God hates Canada

i recently surfed the GodhatesAmerica site, put up by the Westborobaptist Church, and I found that not only does God hate America, but he hates, Fags, Ireland, Canada, Mexico, Sweden, and the rest of the world. Just thought it was interesting. Not much more to say on that.

However, what i was originally going to name this blog is, “the opposite of homosexuality is holiness?” but i thought that the title I chose was so much more interesting.

anyway, as i was surfing YouTube today, mostly because i think there are a lot of interesting videos out there that i feel like i am missing out on, i came across this one video with a woman talking about how she was gay for twenty years, and then Jesus came and “cured her.” (she is the one who said the quote mentioned above).

and i just thought it was really interesting to hear her say that the opposite of homosexuality is holiness. does this mean that the opposite of holiness is homosexuality? that everyone who is not holy is homosexual? Fred Phelps says that people who are homosexual, are that way not because they hate God, but because God hates them. i think both arguments (from the woman and from Phelps) are a little bit off. But that is just me.

I mean both get a lot of responses. For example this guy says, “trying to cure yourself from homosexuality is like trying to cure your color. look at Michael Jackson…it doesn’t work.”

someone else posted a video that said, that he was straight for 20 years, but Jesus came into his life and cured him from heterosexuality.

it’s just interesting. all of it.

and i guess i just have a question:

how would it change someones faith, or what Fred Phelps believes, if he found out that Jesus WAS gay? i mean, i am not saying that he is, or was. but i think that it is kind of unfortunate that we never talk about the possibility that Jesus felt sexual feelings. I mean, if he was “fully man” AND “fully God” it means that he must have felt the same excitement that someone “fully man” would experience. right? but we talk about Jesus like he would NEVER have thought about sex, because he was sinless. it’s like the biggest contradiction i can think of, as of recently. if he is fully man and fully divine, shouldn’t he feel what humans feel? shouldn’t he get excited at times?

but to think of Jesus as a sexual being (as many Christians claim humans are) is blasphemy. I mean, how would it change our world, if Jesus were gay? would it even matter? would people still say that “God hates fags?” or would they say that Jesus “cured” them of homosexuality?

I mean, it’s just a question.

Last night I went into a Jews for Jesus chat room, and asked them these questions, and I got turned away. I got told that I was being rude, and that I was being anti-missionary. They kept talking about booting me. But, my question is/was honest. Very much so. I really want to know, how would it change what you think?

Someone that I was watching today on YouTube , was talking about how it is almost like Christians just want people to burn. In fact I believe it was Pat again, that was talking about this. But I really like this one comment. It was basically just, “you angry Christians WANT people to burn, because you want judgment. you want punishment for your own satisfaction.” And in a way, he is kind of right I think. I mean, if you read the story of the prodigal son, the son that is doing everything that he is supposed to, gets upset when the son who does wrong comes back and is celebrated. he is jealous, and the father says, but i always celebrate you. THIS is a day of rejoicing.” I think it relates a lot to how Christians are now. How jealous would they be if they got to heaven and say a homosexual being rejoiced as they entered, and Jesus turning his face sadly towards the bigot who condemned the homosexual.

“But Jesus,” I can imagine them saying, “what about your rules? I was just trying to do what you wanted me to.” And I can imagine Jesus saying, “Go away from me, I don’t know you. What you do unto the least of these, you do to me.”

I remember my freshman year here at “the H.” I wanted to write a paper (it was an argumentative paper) about how Christians need to learn to treat homosexuals differently. No where in the paper was I going to mention if I thought it was right or wrong, but I was making a comment about how poorly homosexuals are treated by the church. And, one day we had to tell the class what we were arguing, and when I did, everyone got really angry with me. They told me that it was going to be a bad paper, and they all acted really shocked that I was going to write about what I was. My professor, though, was pretty liberal, and was really excited for my paper.

Another time I posed the question to a bible professor here, “Wouldn’t Jesus eat with the homosexuals?” and she said, “yes, probably, but it was from being with him that the sinners (that he ate with) turned from their sins, or were healed.” So, something MUST be wrong if by being with Christians–who are supposed to be coming in the name of Jesus, and believe they have the capacity to heal and cast out demons– homosexuals don’t change.

Just some thoughts.
